2015 Rules 3rd Alhambra Guitar International Competition

In this edition the number of categories have been expanded and we have introduced new Awards in artistic collaboration with guitarist and composer: José María Gallardo del Rey and the Catedratic of Guitar: Rosa Gil del Bosque.

1. Open competition for all guitarists irrespective of nationality.

2. Three categories are set:

A Category: up to 10 years old
B Category: up to 13 years old
C Category: up to 17 years old
D Category: up to 23 years old
and two rounds: Eliminatory and Final

Contestants in each category cannot exceed the age limit on 15th November 2015.

3. The pieces must be played by memory, except in the A Category . In the B Category, at least one piece in this category should be played by memory in each round. Contestants who present a work of José María Gallardo can play it by reading the score. The pieces will not be repeated in any other round. The jury is empowered to interrupt the contestant’s performance.

4. Performances will be opened and free entrance to the public and may be spread or recorded through any technical support. Contestants renounce to any right related to this subject.

5. The competition will take place at differents halls of Valencia. The organization will inform by e-mail or telephone to all the competitors (from the deadline of the inscription) about date, time and place where it will take place the public draw to determine the order of the appearance of the contestants and halls. All the information will be regularly updated and will be checked on the web site: www.jornadasdeguitarra.com

6. The organization reserves the right to modify dates, place and any other unexpected event that may happen.

7. Contestants must duly identify themselves, showing the original ID card, passport or Family Book. Contestants who do not respect the order of the appearance will be excluded of the Competition and those who give false documents will be excluded as well.

8. Three copies of all works should be handed to the Organization in advance by the contestants.

9. The Organization does not accept liability for any harm caused or suffered by contestants to the celebration of the Competition.

10. It is understood that contestants automatically accept the rules of the competition as well as the jury’s decision.

ROUNDS

• The order of appearance of the contestants set in the draw will be kept during the competition.

A Category:
• Eliminatory/Final: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 4′ minutes in each round.

B Category:
• Eliminatory/Final: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 5′ minutes in each round.

C Category:
• Eliminatory: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 7′ minutes.
• Final: Performances of the free choice works of different styles must not exceed 15′ minutes.

Contestants can opt for José María Gallardo Award, for the best performance of his work, if they perform one of the following options:
• Preludio y Sarabanda de “California Suite”; Allegro y Giga de “Tocata a la manera de Corelli”; Estudio nº 5 ó Estudio nº 4 (de Estudios de Concierto Vol. I)*

D Category:
• Eliminatory: Performances of the free choice works must not exceed 10′ minutes.
• Final: Performances of the free choice works of different styles must not exceed 20′ minutes.

Contestants can opt for José María Gallardo Award, for the best performance of his work, if they perform one of the following options:
• Estudio nº 9 ó Estudio nº 11 (de “Estudios de Concierto” Vol. 2); Allemande y Vals de “California Suite”; Preludio de “Noches de San Lorenzo*

Rosa Gil 85th Anniversary Award to the winner of the First Prize: Concert Presentation at JIGV includes 400 € of travel expenses.

REGISTRATION

• The deadline is on 15th November 2015.

• Application forms for the competition have to be sent by e-mail to artetrujaman@yahoo.es and all the following information must be also sent:

Name and surname; Date of birth; Phone number; E-mail; Address; Specify the category and works that will be played in each round.

• The registration can be also done filling: boletin.doc

• A scanned copy of the bank transfer slip of the fee registration will be also sent by e-mail.
Compulsory entry fee: 30 euros.
